Bucks krijgen zware klap na diagnose bloedstolsel bij NBA All-Star Lillard

Milwaukee Bucks All-Star guard Damian Lillard is indefinitely sidelined due to a blood clot in his right calf, as announced by the team.

According to the Bucks, Lillard is currently on blood-thinning medication that has stabilized his condition, and he will continue to undergo further testing. The team did not specify a timeline for Lillard’s return, stating that updates will be provided as necessary.

“Damian’s health is our No. 1 priority,” said Bucks general manager Jon Horst in a statement. “We will support him as he navigates through the strict weekly criteria to ensure that it is safe for him to return to play. Doctors have indicated that the likelihood of this situation recurring is very low. We are grateful that this issue was identified and treated promptly, which aids in his recovery.”

Lillard, 34, last played on March 18 against the Golden State Warriors before missing the Bucks’ last three games due to what was initially described as a calf injury.

This season, Lillard is averaging 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game over 58 games (all starts) in his second season with Milwaukee. Over his career, he has averaged 25.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game across 900 games with the Portland Trail Blazers (2012-2023) and the Bucks.

The Bucks currently hold a record of 40-31 with 11 games remaining in the regular season. They are positioned fifth in the Eastern Conference standings and are also missing two key players: Jericho Sims (thumb injury) and Bobby Portis Jr. (suspension).
